THE BAHRAIN FORT, BAHRAIN

It was last week, 9th February when we finally succeeded to visit this Fort, after several unsuccessful attempts.

The Bahrain Fort is one of the most historical sites in Bahrain. Located in Karbabab Village, this Fort also known as the Portuguese Fort or Qal'at al-Bahrain, was built during the Portugese occupation in the 1500s. However, excavations revealed that this Fort was built on the site of the Dilmun settlements, dating back somewhere 2800BC.

Due to the significance of the Fort to the world ancient history, it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.

The Fort welcomes visitors daily at daytime with no entrance fee.
